Pileated woodpeckers

Has anyone seen pileated woodpeckers in Ohio? I know I have seen them numerous times, yet I have heard that some people think they are extinct??

I had one land on the tree in front of my house last summer and I have seen them while fishing. I never have a camera or had a chance to get a camera.
