The old cure for poison ivy of days ago was to take a bar of lye soap (the homemade kind) make it like a paste and let it dry on the spot where the rash is.
The soap acts like a sponge to the bumps of the rash on your skin. It will dry the spot on contact.
Not sure if it will work for others, but it works for us.
Also found some good stuff called bandaid in a jell form that helps relive the itchiness while the rash dries. Since it has chemicals in it we stick to the homemade soap for its natural ingredients.
