The Wabash-Cannonball Trail offers 63 miles for hiking, biking, and some horseback riding (on the non-paved sections). It is the longest bike trail in Ohio.
The Wabash-Cannonball Trail is made up of the north fork and the south fork. The map below indicates where the different sections are.
Each section has both paved and unpaved sections. The paved section of the north fork extends from Jerome Road on the east end to the Lucas-Fulton County line on the west end.
The paved section of the south fork extends from Black Road on the east end to Yawberg Road on the west End.
The rest is gravel. Even the gravel portions are well maintained, although you will not want to travel on them with a road bike. Thin tires will not handle some of the rough spots.
Although the paved sections are much easier to ride I like to take the unpaved sections sometimes. There seems to be more to see on the gravel sections and there is certainly less traffic.
Good places to park and unload your bikes are at the Whitehouse park for the south fork and Monclova School for the North Fork.
If you park at Monclova School you can travel most of the paved north fork towards the West.
You can also park at the Springbrook area of Oak Openings Preserve to access the north fork. From this location you can travel East on the paved section.
