"Got Seed?"
Last year I caught just a couple fuzzy pictures of this wary bird one day, then, didn't see him again the rest of the year. Hoped I'd get a chance again this year, and I did. He stuck around a lot longer this time and may still be back.
He warmed up to me a bit ad he wasn't so easily spooked while I was outside taking pictures and video of him.
AND, I finally got a chance to hear his.......um.......song? If you can call it that. The strangest strained screech I've ever heard. The closest thing I could compare it to would be Mumbles' attempt to "sing" in the movie "Happy Feet"
Very "chicken-like" when searching for food. Long legs scratch the ground for seed while his tail is pointing skyward. Very Gangly looking.
Hopefully, I'll start to see more of them, but they are supposed to be primarily in the northwestern states....west of the Mississippi.
Extremely rare to see them around these parts, so I feel pretty lucky that I've seen this bird for the past two years now.
Has anyone else seen any of these comical birds around Ohio?
